Rural folklore, despite the hyper connected global world and omnipresent surveillance cameras, still plays a big role in defining our physical and mental space. Such are the crucifixes along the road in the northern part of Croatia. “The authors stop next to them and take Jesus’ perspective, looking at fragments from His life. They control what He controls, they reduce Him to the human dimension. When you stand in front of the cross and turn away from it, you see what He sees. Maybe then you see yourself. In the video, nothing is happening, He must be quite bored, the fields are not being ploughed, there are no cattle on the pastures, rabbits are not being hunted, it seems that Jesus has nothing to watch. But if you stare a little longer, a twig moves, the clouds dissipate, the birds flutter, a car passes by. The occasional sound gives a hint of life. He is watching, after all.” — Boris Greiner
