The hyperreality of pixelated images and electronic speech is the means through which we present ourselves to the world on the Internet. The project explores the use of digital technology in combination with shadows as illustrations of digital representations of surrounding objects. In the cave, under the light of the fire, people see only the shadows of themselves and their surroundings. Since they see nothing else, they believe the shadows are real. On the Internet, people see only digital representations of themselves interfering with other digital representations. Since they see nothing else, they believe the digital representations are real.
